Personal Statement :
I have been DJing for about 21 years now, with no intention of stopping. I got the name Mike Intellect from my old friend Burnadette. She said to me, "you know... in high school you weren't that smart... but in college you're like a born-again intellect!" I still to this day don't know whether to take that as a compliment or a dis, but I've been going by that name since 1998.

Here's what I wrote about myself a few years ago on my super old website. Of course it's still applicable today...

Mike Intellect comes from a very rare breed of old school DJ's. Unlike many of today's DJ's whose first motivation is to become a "turntablist" or battle DJ, Mike started out just letting the records play. In 1986, he inherited the turntables that he still uses today from his eldest brother Cesar, and received his Gemini 19 inch mixer (with echo effects..OooOoOOOOoHHH) as a Christmas present that same year.

In the beginning, Mike's Djing influences were local crews in the area including Unlimited Sounds, Ultimate Beat, First Class, Clubhouse, and PowerBass Productions. At the time, dance, freestyle, and hip house were mainstream in the young filipino community. As time went on, Mike's music interests had changed as a result of the changing demands on party DJ's and simply growing up. Through every stage of the Jersey DJ scene, from freestyle music to hip hop, Mike has maintained his love for DJing, and continues to build on a solid foundation.
